GUNJUR UNITED STRETCHES UNBEATEN RUN TO MOVE THIRD IN THE STANDINGS

The last time they lost was against Serrekunda East Bi in week three of Gambia football federation national division two league, since then Gunjur United have been in a red-hot form as they stretched their unbeaten run to six games.

Their recent triumph which lifted them from 5th position to 3rd came against Second Infantry battalion of Farafenni at the Jarra Soma Mini-stadium in week nine fixtures where Salifu Bojang scored a brace in a 3 - 2 score line to increased his tally to six goals.

Gunjur United who only got promoted to the second tie in 2017/18 season have now scored eleven (11) goals in their last six games making them one of the highest scoring team in the campaign.

Speaking after his teams win in week nine Bubacarr Bojang the head coach of Gunjur United said the teams plan is to gain promotion to the top tier. “Last season we play the league with the aim of staying so as to gain more experience, but this season the plans are to gain promotion to the first division at the end”.

“Though we are faced with some injury concern, but the team is still in good shape. We have the backing of the community, am 100% hopeful that at the end of the campaign we will finish within the top two”. He added.

The entire Gunjur community are on their feet to ensure that the team gain promotion to the top tier. A total of two hundred and six thousand dalasis (206, 000) is pledged by Gunjurian home and abroad as a way of giving the necessary financial assistance to the team throughout the campaign.
