A penalty miss by star player Pedro Amisson Lopez brought Reliance league campaign to a halt and send Ecomog FC into the league finals for the first time, ensuring all Sifoe final also for the first time.

Reliance FC
In what was a pulsating encounter at the Gunjur ‘nyamina’ arena, Ecomog and Reliance played a goalless stalemate in the replayed second league semi finals tie before settling for a 5 – 4 triumph in penalty shoot-out, to set up a tie against neighbors The-Pub FC who as well edged out Red Star FC in the first semi finals.
It is for the first time in the history of Gunjur nawettan that, two team from the same community outside Gunjur reached a final.

Ecomog FC
Both Ecomog and The-Pub are football clubs from Sifoe (close-by village approximately 10 kilo-metre from Gunjur) who are participating in the Gunjur summer football championship (‘nawettan’) for the second successive season.
In their debut season last year, Ecomog had a dismal campaign as they exit at the group stage of the league and first round of the knock-out cup. In complete contrast, The-Pub produced what was a master class performance – loosing a single game (league semi-final) in the entire last season’s campaign and clinched the knock-out cup title.

The-Pub FC (2017/18) Knock-out Champions
Ecomog will take on The-Pub in the league cup finals, while The-pub who reached a double final this season will play Reliance FC in the knock-out cup finals.
