Lamin Kaba Bajo the incumbent president of Gambia Football Federation has again been voted to serve another four years in office.

Bajo was re-elected by stakeholders in the elective congress held at Paradise Suites hotel on Saturday morning.
The incumbent secured a convincing victory with 63 votes over his opposing candidate Malick Sillah who despite announcing his withdrawal from the election on the eve of the day, gets two votes and there were two invalid votes, while six delegates failed to cast their votes.
Malick Sillah called a press conference on Friday evening where he informs the press about his camp’s decision of boycotting the election. This came after five of his executive members were disqualified as a result of failing to meet the required criteria’s.
During the campaign, Malick Sillah and team demands for the suspension of Kaba Bajo and his first and second vice president Bakary K. Jammeh and Ebou Faye respectively. This follows an investigation by the Gambia police Force of the trio’s involvement in allege tax fraud.
Sillah further criticized the nomination of Lang Tombong Tamba former military commander at Gambia Armed Forces who was convicted and sentence for treason, a crime the GFF laws condemn.
However, despite Sillah’s withdrawal, he still had a box in the election house as the electoral committee said they didn’t receive any formal notification from Malick Sillah camp of their withdrawal.
‘The election is over and am calling on my brother Malick Sillah and co to come and join us to work for football. Football needs you and I won't hesitate to call you on board if needed.' Kaba stated in his victory speech.
