FOOTBALL FOR PEACE (FFP) F.C EDGE PAST SPARTA IN BUSUMBALA NAWETTAN OPENER

A 4 – 2 victory on penalty shoot-out over Sparta FC, was all but enough for FFP to snatch the Busumbala Super Cup title in the opening game of 2018/19 Busumbala wet season football championship.

FFp’s custodian turns the hero following a goalless draw in regulation time as he saved two spot kicks to hand his side an easy triumph.

As expected on paper, Football for Peace FC also known by the acronym FFP dominates from start to finish, forcing their opponents Sparta FC into the pedestrian for most parts of the game.

FFP were quick to get out of the blocks as Musa Samma called Lamin Dibba of Sparta into action after just five minutes with an angle strike.

In the opposite end Sparta’s Modou Conateh hit wide their only close attempt of the evening after he calmly controls in-front of the post.

FFP’s emphasis on attack was much to Sparta’s bewilderment as a miscommunication saw Sparta’s netminder Lamin Dibba saved from Lawrence Mendy, before saving Bubacarr Jammeh’s follow up rebound.

Sparts’s nervousness in the game gave more comfort to FFP to an extent that their goalkeeper acting as an outfield player as he was exchanging passes with his defenders, while the threat of the evening Bubacarr Jammeh continue to question the defensive capabilities of Sparta with series of threatening moves.

But no matter what FFP could not turned their dominance into a goal as the tie ended zero a piece.

The proclaimed best goalkeeper in Busumbala, Joseph Jarju of FFP was the hero in the penalty shootout as he saved from Momodou Jallow, and then from Saikou Colley for the impressive Bubacarr Jammeh to stepped up and steer home the winning penalty.
