PENDING SUKUTA NAWETTAN FINALS SCHEDULES

Both the pending league and knock-out cup finals of 2017/18 Sukuta “nawettan” (summer football championship) has been scheduled to take place at Demba-du park in Sukuta.

Seaview and Atlas football club made it to the league cup final, as Nema City and JD united progresses to the knock-out cup final.

The knock out cup final between Nema City and JD United is slated on Friday 27th July 2018, while the league cup final between Seaview and Atlas FC will be held on Sunday 29th July.

The league final has been in tussle since JD united who were beaten in the league semi-finals by Seaview, lodged an appeal against Lamin Jobe a player of Seaview.

JD alleged Lamin Jobe for registering with two different recommended “nawettan” centers by Gambia Football Federation, which they said is in “contravention of the rule”’.

However, after several investigations by Sukuta Youth Sports Association (SYSA), the players in question is set to register with a team (London United) in Serre-Kunda East but, has never been used thereby dismisses the appeal of JD United.

SYSA based their judgment on article 1 of GFF on player registration which sated if a player is found guilty for registering at two different nawettan center’s he or she should be fine and suspended for three years from playing in all major nawettan centers but, the punishment will not affect the result of the game he/she played.

Since then JD united has been protesting against the rulings with several protest letters to both SYSA and GFF but to no avail as SYSA maintains their stands to date.

Sukuta are the only GFF recommended nawettan center that are yet to complete their 2017/18 season. Several other zones started the 2018/19 nawettan competitions.
