INTERIOR ENDS RED SCORPION DOUBLE TITLE HOPES

Gambia National Division One female side interior FC prevents fellow First Division team Red Scorpions from winning a dual trophy as they defeat them on penalties in the female Football Federation (FF) cup final.

The two side played a grueling goalless stalemate at the Serre-Kunda East Park before penalty shoot-out separate them and hand Interior the second most prestige trophy in female football in the Gambia with a 4 – 2 triumph.

It was an end to end football which saw both sides putting away several scoring opportunities as they could not find the means to unlock each other’s defence, in-front of several prominent sport personnel like Sainey Sissoho womens football coordinator in the country, Mariama Bom Sowe head coach Gambia National female football team among others.

As winners Interior (the police ladies) received a cheque of one hundred thousand dalasis (D100, 000) and a trophy, while Red scorpion who were unable to give any meaningful sting in the evening gets seventy-five thousand (D75, 000) runners up prize.

Red Scorpions Adama Tamba who is the all time Gambia national female team top scorer wins the player of the season’s award of eight thousand dalasis (8, 000).

The win means Interior’s third FF Cup title in succession and also set up another tie between the two in the season opener when the new season gets underway in early 2019 as Red Scorpion are the league cup champions.
