DRAW FOR LATE MODOU JANNEH MEMORIAL TOURNAMENT HELD

The balloting for Late Modou Janneh Memorial Intermediate Football tournament was held over the weekend in Gunjur Kombo South West Coast Region, the Gambia.

The football tournament which is organized in memory of Modou Janneh who was the co-founder of the grass-root tournament, has recorded the highest participation this year, since its inception four years ago.

A total of twenty seven (27) Intermediate teams have line-up for the 2018 /19 showpiece. The teams are divided into eight groups. Teams in each group will play each other in a round robin from where on the top two in group A, B and C plus the group winners of the remaining groups will progress to the knock-out phase.

Late Modou Janneh Memorial championship is a football tournament organized by Gunjur Sports Committee’s Intermediate Sub-committee and competed by teams in Gunjur and its satellite Villages.

The competition is geared towards developing grass-root football and also foster unity and social cohesion among the young ages.

The tournament is set to start on the second day of Koriteh when Santos FC the reigning league champions will clash with Green Vision FC the knock-out cup holders in the traditional season opener at Gunjur Nyamina Arena.
