Nigeria only managed a hard-fought 1 – 0 victory in the first leg in Banjul but, it was a far more dissimilar score line as the visitors could not replicate the bravery they showed fortnight ago when playing as the host at the Independence Stadium.

Super Falcons who are the heavy-weights of female football in Africa, has been widely criticized for only managing a narrow win against the inexperience Gambia team who are in fact appearing in the AWCON qualifiers for the first time in history.

Those criticisms only left the Super Falcons in agony as they take full advantage of home support to vend their scorching wrath on the Queen Scorpions, to justify their status as the powerhouse of female football in Africa.

Striker Desire Oparanozie netted four times and the current Africa’s female player of the year Oshoala Asisat scored a brace to complete a 7 – 0 aggregate win for the reigning champions.

Nigeria now joins Ghana, Cameroon, Equatorial Guinea, Zambia, Mali, South Africa and Algeria for the 2018 AWCON tournament to hosted in Ghana from November 17 to December 2nd later this year.
