Barrow’s second half strike was the only goal in a 10:00pm friendly game played at the Independence Stadium in Bakau on Friday night.

The tie was the second meeting between the two sides in the space of five days as they played a drab goalless stalemate on Monday at the same venue.

Despite the late schedule of the game, a relatively large crowd that includes Lamin Kaba Bajo the president of Gambia Football Federation and his executive members, members of the ministry of Youth and Sport among other host of dignitaries turned up for the occasion.

Unlike the first friendly, there was excitement, grit and precision in yesterdays encounter especially in the second half.

The host took command of the first half but, the technical and tactical awareness of the Moroccan defence make their attack look vulnerable. Aside from a mishandle by the Moroccan keeper which nearly gives Gambia the lead and two Badamosy’s headers one of which skid the top of the Moroccan crossbar, there was nothing that brought the fans on their feet in the first half.

With the home crowd sitting in a cold weather roaring themselves horses and savour, the host came from the dressing room in a more purposeful and determined mood as they outnumbered and out played the visitors, forcing them to pedestrian.

Straight after half time Musa Barrow put Badamosy clean through but a lack of composure saw the Moroccan defend well before the striker attempts a shot.

A minute later Gambia were duly rewarded after Musa controls well and exchange a quick one – two with Adama Jarju in the box before forcing home into Issam El Maach’s net, the goal send the crowd into crazy celebrations as if it was a World Cup final winning goal.

Since that moment Gambia dictates the tempo and inject more life into the game especially when captain Ablie Jallow, Musa Barrow and Muhammed Badamosy whose triangular movements was much to the Morrocan defence confusion, got involved, but, the host could not add to their lead.

The Moroccan though looks technically and tactically well structured, but their temperament which saw both their technicians and players protesting over refereeing decisions from start to finish was responsible for their under-performance.

The win moves coach Omar Sise’s side unbeaten run to six as they won four and drew two of the six games they played.
