Waa Banjul have shown some superior performance in Gambia Football Federation domestic Division Two League as they collects vital three points against Gunjur United at the Serre-Kunda East Park.

Coming into this evening game, Waa Banjul thrilled Gunjur United a point but, goals from Young star Ebrima Cham and inventive midfielder Cherno Gaye were enough to hand them a 2 – 1 victory and revive their standings as the campaign goes into the final two round of matches.

In what probably perceived to be an easy game for Gunjur, ended up turning into a tense and difficult affair as both side shows some determination in the fight for the three points.

It has been a close and tough game from start to finish with either side coming near each others goal area on rare occasions.

Gunjur’s dynamic midfielder Salifu Bojang first hit over from close range after a fine delivery from Sidia Barrow on the right. Since then Waa Banjul starts to get wary of their opponents plans and ambitions and quickly switch to a close defensive tactical approach, only relying on the pacy and talented Mam Adam Secka who causes plenty of trouble for Gunjur backline.

Secka’s brilliance doesn’t took longer to pay as he skip’s inside Gunjur’s left back with some step-over movement to set up the unopposed Ebrima Cham who calmly tap home from the six-yard box on the 17th minutes.

Gunjur United regroup in search of an equalizer with Salifu Bojang’s shot which initially seems a possible goal only to go wide after a deflection from a crowded 6yard box.

However, the capital boys Waa Banjul claims poll position in stoppage time going into the interval as Cherno Gaye sneaks from behind the trap and rounded keeper Yunus Jatta who leaves his line with the hope of a possible interception and curled into the top roof from the right-hand side of the 18yard box.

After the recess Gunjur’s technicians who were continuously criticized for leaving youngster Meen Faal, midfield anchor Omar Touray and energetic left-back Alagie Sarr on the bench, quickly fed in all the three players and Gunjur soon pulled back a goal.

Teenage defender Saikou Barrow slice in Lamin Bojang's cross on the 60th minutes. And Gunjur started to develop some optimism.

However, Waa Banjul knowing well a triumph will move them into 9th position ahead of Gunjur, defends their slender advantage well for the remainder of the minutes amid series of terrifying attacks from Gunjur.
