Dutch Philanthropist Donates Sports Gears To Darusalam In Gunjur

Irma Appelhof a dutch philanthropist has donated nearly twelve boxes of sport materials to the community of Darusalam (Freetown) in the northern outskirts of Gunjur town. The materials donated includes football shirts, balls, bibs, corns, match day note books, red & yellow cards, two first aid boxes and bags.

The donation was meant to help the development of the game in the area. Freetown has lot of potential players who participated in all categories of Gunjur Sports especially football. Speaking during the presentation, Alieu Darboe a resident of the area and friend of Irma said he is happy that the materials are successfully delivered to his area.

"If I have any support I will first think of my community and area before others. Am happy and proud to talk with Irma to ensure she brought these materials for you guys” He noted. Mr darbo thank Irma and urge the people of the area to take good care of the stuffs. “If you value these materials, which cost lot of money, which I cannot purchase for you, neither could you purchase it for yourselves. So let’s keep the materials safe” he advised.

For her part Irma Appelhof expressed joy over the warm reception at the Freetown Sports arena and also explained why she brought more sport gears. “Am very happy to see everyone here feeling happy for receiving these materials, is amazing. I got the materials from some companies in Holland and when I go back I will see what I can do next year” she said.

The philanthropist also said over the years she used to help in areas different from football but this time she decided to bring along some sport materials for the youth and kids after talking with Alieu Darboe her host.

Freetown Sports Development Committee as a way of showing appreciation to Irma’s kind gesture prepared and presented a certificate of appreciation to say “thank you Irma”. Irma is a philanthropist who usually helps widows, poor’s, communities and groups in the Gambia.
