BK Milan FC
Newly promoted Gunjur United FC suffered their worst defeat in Gambia National Division Two round six league matches against a resurgent Bakau based club BK Milan FC.
The Kombo South giants who only now managed five points in six games were thrashed 3 - 1 at the Brikama Boxbar mini-stadium. Striker Yusupha Gaye netted a brace within the first quarter of the match before substitute Sankung Nyang completes the demolition in the second half, while Gunjur’s consolation was scored by winger Mbemba Fatty.
The overall quality of the football on view at Boxbar was marvellous. It was not a poor football, but rather an end to end attacking as both sides put some grit, cohesion, pace and composure into the game straight after the start.
However, BK Milan took only 21minutes to get Gunjur where they want them as they scored twice within the space of five minutes, up to that moment Gunjur looked well organised but BK Milan capitalized well to take off the tempo in the Gunjur team.
Centre-forward Yusupha Gaye slot home from the penalty spot on the 17th minutes after captain Lamin Bojang needlessly brought down Bubacarr Jammeh in the box by pushing with his back after the winger cut in from the left side of the box. Five minutes later Gunjur were caught open at the back as Gaye latches on to a pass in the box and control well before hitting out of the reach of Yunus Jatta in the Gunjur post.
Then it was only 21minutes gone, the possibility of a comeback was very much high and alive, but, when Gunjur needs patient, concentration and hard-work, instead they run wrath with too many unnecessary protest over refereeing decisions and BK Milan’s time wasting tricks.
Any hopes of a comeback disappeared on the 41st minutes when Gunjur’s right back captain Lamin Bojang was sent off for a second yellow after protesting bitterly he didn’t touch Bubacarr Jammeh who goes down easily as Bojang chases him down the right-back position of Gunjur. Straight after half time Gunjur’s assistant coach Fabakary Jatta was sent to the stands by the referee for “protest”.

Gunjur United
Despite playing with 10 men, Gunjur looks more serious after the break as Malang Jassey and Mbemba Fatty injects more urgency in attacks. The duo combines well on the 56 minutes when Mbemba controls brilliantly and smashes in a left foot angle shot following Malang Jassey’s cross. Gunjur started to grew in confidence as they continue to press high but, BK Milan technicians reacted wisely to counter the threats by introducing attacking players to the game which forced Gunjur to be cautious of their already weak defence line.
The tactics of BK Milan works well on the 70th minutes when substitute Sankung Nyang scored the third to take off the fighting spirit in Gunjur with a sliding finish following a cross from the star of the show Bubacarr Jammeh.
Knowing only a miracle can make the comeback a possibility, Gunjur switch to a three man defending tactics in the remaining minutes, but, that only left them exposed at the back and BK Milan should have score further goals but squandered all the chances.
To BK Milan the glory, question started to rise if Gunjur United can gain promotion to the first tier, unless more good players are added to increase the depth and quality of the team, Gunjur gaining promotion will surely come out of blue.
